On a lighter note from the most recent world new’s (Covid-19), I recently discovered Sheffield Spice & Tea Co while shopping in the surrounding area. I immediately was attracted to this place and had to go and take a look inside. When I walked in my first thoughts were, “Finally a spice shop!” I’ve attempted to blend my own spices while cooking, but it’s always hit or miss with the outcome of the flavor I am seeking.
As I looked around the woman working there let me know of the products that they carried, where everything was located and that their herbs were sourced from around the world. The shop, being the only one of its kind in town, has a range of excellent spice blends… And loose leaf TEA!
I’ve searched for a pleasant rose tea for a while. And, I’m up this morning enjoying a cup.

The yoga mat that I purchased (the red one shown above) was from Dick’s Sporting Goods located here in Las Vegas. In the past I was not concerned with the material or durability or thickness of a yoga mat, but now things have changed, I enjoy quality.
The mat that I purchased is made by Manduka, a premium yoga mat and fitness apparel company. As I went through the options the store provided I could not decide, but I kept returning to look at this red mat in which I liked the thickness of. My love, he told me to, “Just get it”, in fact he said he would purchase it for me because he knew I really wanted it. Being so indecisive it was a big help.
The mat cost $90 – Now to some this may be overpriced in their opinion but its up to the consumer how they want to spend their money. Rather its shoes from Payless or red bottom Christian Louboutin’s, people are entitled to decide between either.
Could I tell the difference?Yes! – The first place that I tested my mat out was when we went to Sin City Yoga. The ambiance of the studio was what I noticed first, I really love the golden mandala painted on the wall that students face during practice. And, in regards to my mat I could feel the difference. In the past my lower back would feel a pinch on mats and I would have to use the cushion provided, I didn’t feel any discomfort on my Manduka mat.
Fit For Fitness
At the beginning of the year I started a 16 week fitness challenge to add to my self-care routine. Now, to not stress myself I honestly have not been counting the weeks. Some may find this strange but I don’t want to judge myself on what is toned what looks the same still and so on. I will stop when I feel its time to. By not being judgmental I don’t look in the mirror at the changes happening to my body. Also I workout specific areas mainly. We all know we are our own biggest critics. I know that I can be!
At first I was doing russian twists and “squats” (yes in quotations), because I was not doing them correctly. As I have not seriously worked out in two years I know the sore feeling of working out and I would not feel anything. Therefore I looked on YouTube the correct way to squat. Now we were on to something. My legs felt sore but it felt good to know that I corrected my form. I was doing squats on my own until I recalled an app that I used to do squats with. Well and behold the app was still top rated and one of the first to appear in my search. The app is literally called “Squats” in lime green text on the Google Play app if you wish to look for it.

Please keep in mind that I do not workout each and everyday. Sometimes you just can’t due to your body needing rest, having a busy schedule and so on.
YouTube and Google Play are GREAT resources for completing workouts at home.
It feels good to work out. Especially at home. We purchased a gym membership and went twice. But still paid for a few months after that. Which is exactly how fitness centers make their money – from people like me. I am not one to lift weights and such so honestly I had no reason to go.

I feel more energized working out routinely and I have been making delicious meals more often since my goal is to tone up, and gain 5-10 pounds. I will go beyond the 16 weeks and hopefully really make working out a lifelong enjoyment and not just for summer.

Well, upon moving to Vegas I learned very fast that the type of bedding that you sleep in between really does make a difference when it comes to the city’s extreme weather. It was in the high 90’s when I first moved here and within a month or so it had reached as high as 114 degrees.
Yes, you read that right. Ninety plus degrees.
For most when coming to Las Vegas it’s usually for a conference, convention, concert, eloping, gambling, vacation, attend a Strip attraction… anything (reason) is possible when it comes to Sin City. Whatever the reason, when coming here many forget that its actually a city where locals live. In the desert. Where it gets extremely HOT during the summer, air conditioning is a must and its hard to cuddle with your lover for more than a few minutes without becoming stuck together from each others sweat.
As I had initially purchased sheets that went along with the décor of the bedroom; white and winter green, but I knew there had to be sheets that could make sleep more comfortable with less tossing and turning.

Keep in mind that there are two kinds of bamboo sheets, some that are mixed with other materials, and the other which is made of 100% premium bamboo.
I was shopping with my partner at the Fantastic Swap Meet when a man at a kiosk got our attention. I honestly wasn’t interest, but my partner walked over to learn more. They were selling the bamboo sheets that I told my partner we should purchase a month prior. I then remembered when I first discovered this type of bedding I did do some research on them.
With him remembering that I wanted them, I asked the sales man if the bedding that was being sold was 100% bamboo. He replied that the ones he had on display were not, BUT he could order some luxury bamboo sheets to be shipped to our home. He had a swatch for us to select a color and feel the texture. Right then we decided to go ahead and purchase them.

Looking online through Google’s shopping part of their search engine, and at Bed, Bath and Beyond, I did discover that bamboo sheets are such good quality that their prices ranged from the low $100 (on sale) and as high as $240.
Above is a picture of the sheets that we received in the mail. Though they cost more than the previous sheets that I would find at Ross for $16.99 – $48.00, they are totally worth it living here in Vegas. Sheets that are cool in the summer and comfortable during winter is a must for living here.
Fact: Las Vegas gets really hot during the summer and very cold during the winter.
In fact it snowed about a month ago and locals were taken aback!
